any moment in your life when you realised that something extremely typical for you actually wasn't the norm? (if you don't mind sharing)

ok this is weird but like even my parents never expected me to date srsly bc of now i am???? and i got so used to everyone saying that to me but being w my bf is so natural and makes me so happy so im like. oh it wasnt that im incapable of this!!!!!

growing up. like as a child... of 4 or 5 years i'd always be like yeah!! ill get married to a girl or a boy idc if i like their personality!! which IS normal but my parents never said anything despite being insanely heteronomative and homophobic??

tbh lots of weird things since my family is scottish but i live in england so some phrases and names for things are different and i go oh

hm... stuff with how my parents treat me usually! i can't think of something specific but their way of parenting in general with how strict they are shouldn't be the norm but it's the daily for me ;___;
