hello! are we allowed to submit more than one type of application (ie, digital merch & page artist) or are we limited to just one?

Hii confused by the pitch hitter part of the writer application. If I pick yes does that mean I'm no longer being considered as part of the zine and ONLY as back up, or is it more of a "if we don't immediately consider you as part of the project we will consider you as a back up." Cause I'm only a little confused and wanna make sure I'll be considered directly but I also don't mind being used as a pitch hitter IF I'm not considered for the zine at initially :)
Hello! If you selected "yes" on the application for a pitch hitter, it means that you will not be immediately considered as part of the project.... however, we will keep your application on file and consider you as a backup if an accepted participant were to drop. Hopefully that explains it for you! :)

hi! just wanted to ask if the valkyrie-related sample for the application has to have both shu and mika on the piece or if its okay that its just one of them? i havent drawn them in one artwork in a while, so i dont have any illustrated work to submit! if not, do i have to make a new illustration where both are present? thanks in advance!
Hello there! Thank you for your question! :) If you currently have both a separate Shu piece and a separate Mika piece to submit in the application, we highly recommend submitting both. We would love to see how you draw both characters. However, if you don't feel comfortable doing so, it's perfectly fine to submit one or the other. As long as your application includes a Valkyrie character, we will still consider it for review!

Hi, you never responded to my previous ask, but I noticed you changed the rules on your carrd. But I'm still a bit confused and would like some clarification please! You say that p*do is "relations between a minor and an adult." This means shumika wouldn't be allowed since Shu is 18 while Mika is 17 for part of the year. I'd just like everything to be clear before I apply! Thank you!

To begin, we saw your last ask, and we apologize for not getting back to it right away!
The mod team does not mind answering questions, however. We have many clarifications made in our carrd, and we have answered questions like this before of this same topic. To which we will first proceed with: If you are not okay with the Shumika ship in GENERAL, PLEASE we kindly ask to NOT apply to this zine.
Secondly, we are not going to get any more specific with our rules, because we want to make this zine as SFW as possible. Currently, Shumika is not considered proship.
There are many things that lead up to why, including their age. At this current time: Shu is 19/20, while Mika is 18/19, give or take a couple of months. Thank you for your question!

Do y’all want this to be like completely serious or can we make some silly toned fics/art. Like for fics is comedy and silly fun allowed? Is that something y’all would even want for your zine?
Hello there, thanks for your question! Please note that we aim to maintain a semi-serious theme in the zine. While we welcome lighthearted fluff, soft moments, and angst, we do not permit any content that ventures into ‘crack-ship territory.’ Thank you for your understanding!

We apologize for being so unclear about what is problematic and what isn’t, as we have received multiple questions about this. I hope this clears this up for you.
To start, contributors are MORE THAN allowed to apply if they create dark/mature themes like unhealthy relationships, trauma, and violence in their content, as long as they are appropriately tagged, like how Ao3 has its own filtering system. Contributors who create illegal content like incest, pedophilia, and non-con are NOT allowed to apply. We will make a list breaking this down in the carrd as soon as possible.
Our rules exist primarily due to the fact that a significant portion of our audience and contributors are underage and our zine is meant to be SFW. Hence, we are striving to curate content that is easy to read, enjoyable, and pleasant with a focus on Valkyrie, flower languages and lyrical themes. We understand your perspective and appreciate your input.
Lastly, the reason why side characters are preferably not allowed for submissions is that the focus of the zine is specifically meant to revolve around Shu and Mika only, but, as of reviewing, rereading, and revising, we can see how this may be difficult for our artists and writers, and we will change the rules to include more side characters.
If you are accepted into the zine, and your pitch needs to involve other side characters, that is okay by us, but Shu and Mika must be the main focus.

Sorry same person asking about nsfw as before! I don’t post any nsfw to twt but all my fanfics are together on one ao3 (appropriately tagged ofc) I’m just worried about this rule and not being considered as a writer for this zine when I really would like to be considered.
Don't worry, as long as it's appropriately tagged and filtered then it's okay and you'll be considered!

Hold on, do you mean to say that if for example an ao3 author wanted to get involved with the zine and they have created nsfw fics in the past they won’t be considered at all? Even if they didn’t submit any nsfw in their portfolio, the fact that they have posted and written nsfw means they won’t be able to contribute to the zine?
Hello there! If you have made NSFW content before, that's okay by us, as long as it's filtered and posted on a separate NSFW account. This rule is in place to ensure the safety of other contributors and viewers who may want to look at your work. As long as you don’t post NSFW in your portfolio, that is okay.

For the purpose of this zine, we do not allow anyone in our zine who create incestuous content, alongside proshippers. Incest specifically is defined as ‘romantic relationships between those of SHARED BLOOD. Pedophilic content is defined as relations between a younger individual and someone older than said individual, meaning anything with a 4-year gap or greater. (This also includes student/teacher content.) We also do not allow rape content. We also do not allow NSFW/AI content. If you create any of this content, your application will not be reviewed.

Hello! The application info says that no other characters should be present in the zine. Does that mean you are also not allowed to include side characters (for building up the story)?
hello! As this is a general Valkyrie zine, we would appreciate it if all submissions were related to Valkyrie only. So no, side characters are not allowed EXCEPT for: the addition of Mademoiselle, Nazuna, and Kuro (in some circumstances), but Shu and Mika should be the main focus throughout the entirety.

In reply to one of the other questions, you said that it is not necessary to submit a brand new story, and that it can already have been published before.
I assume you just got the question wrong, but can you please clarify? In my opinion, nothing but brand new works should be included in a zine, fanfics as well as drawings

just to clarify, brand new works are MANDATORY for the zine. previous fics are NOT ALLOWED! the previous asker (in our eyes) were referring to contributor submissions, where it IS ALLOWED to present older works so we can gauge how well your style will fit into our zine. hope this helps!
