Will the zine be a free product?
Yes! It will be free to download.
I am a bit confused on the presence of covers in your kagamine playlist + are we allowed to submit solo songs or should it just duets?
We mainly request that you submit Kagamine songs that you will feel comfortable creating fan art or writing of.
Solo songs are welcome submissions, as there are many songs out there that feature either Rin and Len as the main vocal, but may have the other included in the PV, song's story, or sequels (for example, mothy's Daughter of Evil, or TravoltaP's Soleil). We decided to include cover songs as well, since some of their covers are quite iconic - like Electric Angel.
The consensus we came to is that - as long as your final piece can depict both Rin and Len, and is inspired by/based on an existing Kagamine song - we will not restrict solos/covers from being submitted. The same goes for songs without official PVs or designs; if a participant feels comfortable coming up with their own "designs" or "depictions" of Rin and Len for a song without a PV, we won't stop them.
I hope this clears up the confusion!
Can we swipe our songs if we want after the forms?
We plan on using the song choice section to allocate every participant a song once we're done with the selection. Ideally they should be representative of what you'd like to work with!
We'll be open to discussion if some participants are truly unhappy with their attributed song. However, it will prove difficult since the more popular songs will likely already be taken, so we'd like to avoid this as much as possible.
I’d love to participate but the deadlines are reeeaaaally tight compared to other zines i’ve worked on. Would you consider changing around the schedule? I’m concerned that the tight deadline will scare people away.
Hi! We've revised the deadlines upon receiving loads of feedback about this, so please refer to our newest post on Twitter/tumblr for more information!
Are all the works submitted for the zine going to be posted on the re//echoes website?
The final zine will be accessible for free on itch.io, and contributors will be able to post their pieces individually after release. We don't plan on creating a dedicated website as of now.
In the case we need to edit our responses in the application, how may we do so?
As a general reminder - since we made changes to the form to include emails, all applications need to be resubmitted.
While we previously asked applicants to resubmit, we’ve now tweaked the form settings to allow editing. (Mod noodles had overlooked that setting previously, sorry for the inconvenience!)
hello hello!! quick question: would collaborative pieces between artists be allowed? (given that they are accepted to the same zine) thank you!
We'd like to keep the process as simple as possible, so this time, we'll have to stick with one piece per artist/writer. Sorry about that - if we run a similar project in the future, we could try to account for collabs!
What is the review period for on the schedule? Also will there be extensions for any of the deadlines?
The review period is meant to give us enough time to send the finished zine to contributors and make any necessary adjustments.
As for extensions, we'll be able to offer up to 2 extra weeks total to contributors who may need it if something unexpected happens and they’re unable to meet the original deadline.
