Opinions on Futamahi?

MAHITABA.... Both as a pairing and as a general character relationship and dynamic is something I adore so much? There's so many parallels one could pull from the two, and the movie doesn't shy away from such a thing! Two girls, chasing after another and placing their self-worth and value upon them, only, after MANY events, to realize their full potential and moving in, realising that sometimes the most important love one could have is not for another, but for themselves, and consequentially growing due to it. There's a reason why Mahiru is oftentimes compared to the sun, and Futaba to a seedling. (bar from the whole twin leaf thing and mahirus motif in koi no makyuu lmao) Once the clouds have parted and the sky is clear, the sun on its own is a mentor shine magnificently and wondrously, with no instructions in it's path. A small seedling, at first, requires help to fuel it's eventual growth, sometimes relying on the nutrients of other plants, fighting for sustenance. But, once given the correct guidance and support, Tender Love And Care, it soon blooms, becoming self-sufficient and beautiful in it's own way — inspiring many others like itself to grow just as she had done, even coming to her for advice. (This statement applies to both!)

In the end, all these two needed was a gentle push, a little bit of reassurance and some guidance, to shine at their fullest; which is precisely what makes the laundry scene between Kuromahi in the movie so good. It's a spectacular showcase of these two and their respective arcs. (As well as how much of a tool for growth Kuro's character is, but alas, that's a topic for another day.)

I'm glad that these two are heading towards the same path (alongside a certain Tendo, who I have no doubts will serve as a great rival and inspiration for them both), because at this point in their development, they're able to truly bring out the best in eachother.

Mahiru is known to be a fan of games and competition, and Futaba is known to be pretty firey (for lack of a better term), impulsive and down for Just About Anything — a great combo for a healthy relationship.

Also because these two share AMAZING chemistry???? Play Starira and read the bond stories. I love them both so much.

(most of this is just abridged thoughts lol... i might publish a more detailed analysis on my tumblr 😨)
