hi!! no this isn’t rude dw i would be confused too 😭 but to sum it up my parents did schooling in sg so they pretty much spoke only english to me when i was a kid since i was born and raised in australia! so all the mandarin i’ve learnt is from chinese school or self taught/taught by my mum much much later. so bc of that my reading/writing skills are just heaps better than my speaking but i can understand pretty well! i can speak but i struggle a bit with it since im having to translate what someone says to me in mandarin into english then translate my reply from english to chinese in my head really quickly.. and i tend to forget everything when i get nervous 😭 i hope this explains it though!!
