YES good question! so their animosity goes back to the first era, when ixora first arrived in tamriel. noticing ixora’s time-altering power, she granted ixora the ability to create powerful relics with time-cleaving abilities for her servitude. in time, ixora defied meridia by using her advanced magic to create a relic whose power rivaled that of meridia’s own, which angered the daedric prince. meridia cursed the relic and drove ixora to insanity, and she only recovered through an aspect of padomay. since then, meridia has sought to make ixora pay for her betrayal, a mission that has gone on for thousands of years. in the second era, meridia almost succeeded by ambushing ixora in her weakened state, but she was put in stasis at the brink of death inside the clockwork city. hundreds of years apart from the aspect of padomay to which she was bound ended up minimizing her power even more so, so it could be said that meridia /did/ succeed in ixora’s descent, albeit indirectly.
