Genuine question, no judgment or criticism, just genuinely curious. Why Aulus?

Now THERE'S a question.

To sum it all up, he's a really interesting character when you look at the sum of all of the lore bits that have been dropped like a breadcrumb trail through various bits of MSQ, as well as entries in the encyclopedias. He was a relatively forgettable character with a unique boss fight mechanic, and yet, we see the ripple effect of his small part in MSQ through Zenos having The Resonant, as well as his research even being mentioned by Fandaniel (by name, no less) in the dinner scene during In From The Cold.

Through entries in the encyclopedias, we can learn about a lot of the creatures we encounter in Stormblood (roaders, Inferno, XXVI, Hypertuned Grynewaht and his big old chainsaw sword), paired with the only voiced cutscene we get from Aulus during SB MSQ, it tells the tale of a man ridiculed for dreaming up a scientific goal that is pretty horrifying, but also fascinating when you look at it within the frame of the world XIV takes place in.

Promoting my bestie here, but Katt has a really helpful powerpoint with all of the canon info we have about him, so I encourage you to check it out as she made it as a labor of love: https://twitter.com/sarcasticKatt/status/1610067256377249792

Additionally, for my own personal part...Katt and Pudding, who are the two I RP with who play him (in 2 different scenarios, Katt's Aulus being the one you see shipped with Rory), they're really good at taking what we know about him and creating a well rounded, well written character.

I always appreciate questions like this because I love to share stuff about our weird little purple blorbo, so thank you for that <3
