Oooo what if amon were to discover about hael being a "mistake" in the pet system, after all he and his boyfriend/situationship dagon believes and "knows" this to be true. After all, hael's brother was ultimately chosen as a pet, and hael himself is a demon not an angel.
oh, dagon does tell him eventually. it happens shortly after malachi reaches adulthood, timeline-wise. amon does does believe them and treats hael as a demon from that day forward. its one of the many things that make him start questioning the whole thing and he starts to wonder if maybe its not that hael being picked was a mistake, but the whole system itself :p
the first catalyst for the change is him starting to see sol as a person ofc, the hael thing kindles it and the whole ordeal with malachi and uriel is what end up really tipping the scales and makes him get over his ego and accept he hurt people. a lot.
