i didn’t ship anyone in aot until i got to the bitter end of the current anime run. i’m glad i held off bcs man … we lost a lot of soldiers out there 😭😔 i didn’t really go into the show with any intentions of shipping. my cousin loves the series so i gave it a shot after she kept telling me to watch it for a year 😂 so erejean honestly snuck up on me. like damn, aot has a ton of huge ships and i really chose … this one. it’s true what they say about the ship choosing you bcs i’m pretty committed to erejean despite them being a rarepair 😔🫶🏼

i think the biggest thing that drew me to them is Jean’s amazing character development combined with the complicated relationship we as a viewer have with Eren towards the end. i didn’t really like Jean at first but now he’s my favourite 🥰 and i don’t think i ever truly warmed up to Eren (i never trusted his ass 😭) but i’m so fascinated with his character. the two of them have a fiery dynamic together and they develop a lot of mutual respect for each other over the course of the series. i think there’s a lot to dig into there.

there’s the rivals/friends/lovers aspect. they’re too similar in a way that makes them butt heads. but they’re both very straightforward and fiercely loyal, which i can see being a solid foundation for their friendship/relationship. both of them are also very charismatic — big personalities on their own, but can thrive off being around other big personalities — so i can see them being very easily drawn to each other. idk maybe that speaks to my own personal love of big personalities.
