When I was a kid my dad downloaded an emulator and a bunch of bootleg ROMs to the designated "kid's computer" and my siblings and I played those. No idea which games they were because the JP-EN language encoding was all sorts of fucked-up and most of the sprites were glitchy too. Fun times :)

And then few years later my dad got us a proper Gameboy Color, which came with Pokémon Blue among other games. So I guess Blue is the real answer.
