imagine taehyung wrapped up in blankets trying to fall asleep but he /can't/, because his mind's racing a million thoughts a minute and his eyes are heavy but everything around him seems so /loud/. he tosses and turns for a few hours, frustrated and on the verge of tears because /he just wants to rest goddammit why can't he just/—
his door creaks open and soft, muffled footsteps walk closer. before taehyung can even open his eyes, he smells the faint scent of baby powder and vanilla diffusers and a familiar, heavy weight perches on his mattress.
“ggukie?” he mumbles.
“mhmm.” then, there are hands in taehyung's hair, and jeongguk runs his fingers through the strands a few times, fingernails gently scratching taehyung's scalp. “'s me. i heard you moving around the whole night, so i thought i should come in and check on you.”
“weren't you asleep?”
“can't sleep if you're not asleep.”
“ah, sorry—”
“not your fault.” jeongguk brushes taehyung's hair back from his forehead, before leaning down to drop a kiss there, right between his eyebrows. “sleep, tae.”
taehyung shuffles over to make room for him and holds his blanket open for jeongguk. “sleep here tonight?”
wordlessly, jeongguk slips under the blanket and winds his arms around taehyung. taehyung rests his head on jeongguk's chest, eyes humming pleasantly at the warm, solid warmth of him. he yawns, cheek squashed against jeongguk's cotton shirt.
jeongguk drops another kiss on the top of taehyung's head, once. twice. three times, before letting his lips linger, and he mumbles, “sleep, hyung.”
taehyung breathes in, out, deeply. and jeongguk holds him tighter as he finally, /finally/ tumbles down into the dark clutches of sleep.

oh anonie, thank you so much for this. i don't know how you knew, but my mental health suddenly dipped on me in the last few days, and seeing this almost made me cry (it actually did, but let's keep that between just us :] ). i love you too, i hope everything will turn out okay too. you're a star in the dark sky for me rn, i'll take your gentleness and light and i'll let it keep me warm on this exhausting, draining day. maybe today isn't so bad after all now that i've heard something so lovely from someone so sweet :] 🫂💕
