hello! im not a writer and i genuinely want to know why do some writers include warnings in the notes of their fics and not just tag them? i love your fics a lot im just curious!
i can only speak for myself, but when i put warnings in the notes but not in the tags, i’m telling the reader that there is potentially sensitive content here, but it’s not a fic ABOUT the sensitive content. if it’s not intended to be a point of interest, i’m probably not going to tag it, but i also don't want to totally blindside people, so: additional warnings in notes.
i’m currently working on a wip that will have “animal death” as a warning in the notes. it’s not a fic ABOUT animal death. therefore, i will warn about it, because it can be a sensitive topic, but i won’t tag it. compare this to my fic “the whole of the moon," which i DID tag as animal death, because animal death is a central point of interest for that fic.
hope that helps! ♥
