hi ro :] reading your new 2mn and its so fun! but i was curious: what kind of thing does a pr team do in an entertainment company thats different from being a "manager"?

hello!!! first of all thank you so much for reading anon!!! second of all: there is actually a big difference between what a manager does and what a publicist/pr person does! managers manage an artist's day to day schedule, do a lot of logistics, coordination, are with the artist 24/7 to attend to anything they need. for actors, theyre also often involved in getting an actor a gig (though on an individual level not a company level, agents also do this). the publicist on the other hand is in charge of the public-facing aspects of an actor's job. branding, marketing, making sure the actor is being talked about in the press & on social media. often even handling an actor's social media. they dont work as one-on-one and daily with the actor like a manager does, but are still integral to how the actor presents himself to, and is percieved by, the public!
