a woman said that there shouldn’t be male gynecologists and he disagreed, when someone else brought up that many patients refuse to have male gynecologists bc they fear they would get sa’ed he said the “statistics are extremely low” when most cases many women do not report it, the ones who report it a very small portion gets their case opened and then another small portion gets it past court and even a smaller one actually gets the guys arrested, those statistics just report the ones arrested, adding that in some conservative countries a lot of patients don’t even get the chance to report it, there has been a lot of news of women reporting their sa and r@pe case and the officers sa’ed and r@ping them
also there might be other reasons such as cis men being unable to relate at all to the patients and as a consequence not being taken seriously and sent home, misdiagnosed or done a wrong medical procedure. just notice how many many treat ppl being incapacitated from going to work, school or doing their daily activities due to their periods and always say they’re overreacting, there’s a chance guys might have some internalized misogyny they’re not aware of. many patients have complained about their diagnosis being messed up and most of them state that they had male gynecologist
this was never about statistics, it’s about the patients’ personal experiences, concern and comfort
using the excuse that also this makes men exempt from producing surgeries is just stupid and a fallacy 😭😭 a lot ppl also ask for a female doctor sometimes whenever they get naked and most surgeries the body is covered expenses for the part they’re operating
