Any new year resolutions? (to be fair I didn't pick one)
Is Conte a Ninja Turtle?
Best non-licensed console fighting games?
Favorite original (i.e. not a ROM hack) bootleg/unlicensed title? Could be from either a "genuinely enjoyable" or "hilariously jank" viewpoint.
Did you have a nice holiday?
Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?
Favorite bootleg romhack?
Did you ever use a BBC Micro?
yes at primary school! this was in the 90s so they were already out of date & the school only "officially" used them for some simple educational programs. but because my mum worked at the school I often had to stay late and would mess around with them. eventually I taught myself BASIC from an old library book which was my first experience of programming. so that thing basically set me on the trajectory for a whole life of being a big computer nerd and a career as a professional(?) software developer
How many gigabytes do you have?
What gaming consoles (or computers) did you play on as a kid?
Amiga 1200 was my first but I probably spent more time with creative software like Deluxe Paint than any games. I did enjoy some of the (simpler) puzzle/strategy-oriented games like Lemmings and Worms but didn't get into action games that much, this was like 92 onwards so the peak Amiga gaming era had passed really & my undeveloped young reflexes didn't get along with the clunky joystick controls either. N64 was the one that fully hooked me, I played Mario Kart 64 on a demo kiosk and it completely blew me away, eventually after numerous return trips to that same woolworths to play it again I got my own for Xmas and after that i was fully gamer-pilled, think I got a Game Boy next and then a SNES when they were selling off cheap bundles so I kinda worked my way backwards to the older console stuff I hadn't played when it was current
Are there any clone consoles that you’re desperate to own but haven’t yet been able to find?
In terms of hardware clones not really. But I would quite like to get hold of any Sunplus-hardware plug n play consoles with Nice Code games, a few of them were advertised by Qi Sheng Long but may not have actually been released. I really want to see what kind of work Nice Code was doing on the more advanced hardware, it felt like they were starting to hit their creative stride with their later VT03 games but the whole plug n play market was collapsing on its arse and so they sadly ended up being mostly known and maligned for the famiclone shovelware stuff they did around 2003
