Do shoujosei lover have to be a fan of het romance? See, most of shoujo & josei series that I love have maleMC & ML or femMC & FL dynamics, and don't have any focus in het romance, mostly just platonic (friendship) or found family.
Romance that I enjoy are only BL & GL.
Sorry for this random ask.
Oh yeah, is it weird if I'm okay with consuming dark and toxic BL & GL, but I really mind if it's toxic het?
I don't think so! Being a shoujosei fan has nothing to do with consuming het romance imo. After all BL and GL have roots in shoujo manga. If you prefer M/F platonic relationships, that's cool. I myself treasure them a lot and at times I feel like the odd girl out because, at times, I would rather have the leads stay platonic lol but I keep that to myself 🤫
Also not weird liking toxic same-sex couples more than toxic het. I think that also comes hand to hand to what we see irl. Most times the one suffering is the female counterpart and idk how you identify yourself but sometimes I just can't handle seeing women/girls going thru it. Obviously I enjoy a good story that's about breaking out of the toxic cycle (regardless of the gender of the characters), but I do agree there's a different "vibe" to toxic/dark BL and GL. Many would say they find it "hot". I mean, don't we all like a bit of messy drama lol but, at the end, I'm not romanticizing it but I think they do tend to hit harder when it comes to writing (at least for me) than het ones, especially because many I have read with het couples end up being a disappointment. Tho some BLs I have read too (like Lost in the Cloud). Personally, I just like to analyze their relationships more than anything. I do that for almost every romance I do (I like analyzing dynamics in romantic settings to understand better "love"). Also, I haven't read much toxic GL tho but I'm gonna work on that in 2025 ! In summary, as long as you're romanticizing same sex couples in dark/toxic relationships, I think it's okay! I hope I helped you with ur concern 💛
