Will charms/stickers/etc be available separate from the zine at some point?
If you're interested in buying the merch without the zine, you can purchase the Yuzu bundle ^^ Otherwise, we have no plans on selling the products separately. The artists of certain goods might choose to sell their individual pieces on their own storefronts later, but you'll have to wait until our preorder sales and leftover sales (of any!) have closed.
How did you choose who got to be in the zine?
Hi, thanks for your question! Our zine was originally a passion project between friends, but it slowly grew into something we wanted to share with the whole Thief/Citronshipping community. We eventually started reaching out to other Thief/Citron fans we knew, as well as YGO artists with unique portfolios to have some variety to our project.
While this our second zine, it's our first one to be printed. We wanted to include comics and give our writers a generous word count, so we had limitations on the number of contributors we were able to invite.
I may be the only one but I'd buy a Malik mousepad so fast 😭
What inspired the making of this zine?
Sorry for taking so long to answer this question! We honestly had so many reasons for starting this project that it was hard to narrow them down.
A huge part of it was simply nostalgia! Thiefshipping has been around for a looong time and it was a lot of peoples' very first ship. We have contributors from all over the world that have loved Thiefshipping for years, some for over a decade! This sort of evergreen love for Bakura and Malik also partially influenced our zine's theme of 'time'.
Another reason was that we (the mods) felt like there wasn't a lot of official merch for Bakura, Thief King Bakura, or Malik, especially compared to some of the other Duel Monsters characters. Any that did exist just used the same stock art and screenshots from 2002 😭 So, if Konami wasn't going to give us what we wanted, we decided to make it ourselves.
We also wanted to make a Malik butt mousepad, but according to the interest check, no one else did 🎻
