i'm seeing this pretty late but i have a couple unanswered questions from the last few months asking this same thing so here's an updated answer <3
i'm not one to have outmost favorites but if i had to pick it would probably be paula by isabel allende. friend of my youth by alice munro would come in a close second cause i am a short story lover and she's also my biggest inspiration stylistically, and then there's the little prince by de saint-exupery cause it's a classic for good reason and it lives in me (quite literally like i got the snake eating an elephant drawing tattooed we are bonded for life)
other favorites i can think of are golden apples of the sun by ray bradbury, lisey's story by stephen king, las malas/bad girls by camila sosa villada, yamato's heart by aki shimazaki and moonlight shadow by banana yoshimoto. i think they all have in common that they all peel open their characters extensively through the story or go all in trying to explore the human condition so that might be a favorite themewise as well. and needless to say i rec them all hehe
