Oh, that is hard. I’m a voracious reader but unfortunately many of my once favorite writers have been called into question as pretty terrible people. (Looking at you, Neil.)

If we’re discounting anime-related (Stormbringer) or danmei (Mo Dao Zu Shi), then my comfort stories are still Jane Austen. They’ve been what I go to when I’m sick or miserable—Sense & Sensibility, Persuasion, and of course Pride & Prejudice.

I’m also big into poetry anthologies, which is how poems keep ending up in my works.

My version of misspent youth was me with my nose in a book ignoring basically all of the major life events you’re supposed to have as teens and college students, which probably explains a LOT.

God, I hope I’m not the sanest person here. I’m a train wreck.

I think there are far more reasonable people in fandom than not, but tensions run high sometimes. People can rub each other the wrong way, either through different interpretations of the story and characters, conflicting interests, and just personality clashes.

But that happens in any community, and definitely in any fandom.

Bsdtwt might be stressful sometimes for the people in it, and it may be hard to see past all of that at times, but overall it’s worth recognizing that the passion this fandom brings also generates as much creativity and theorizing as it does drama and conflict.

Dazai loved Oda deeply—but it was platonic. Fyodor got into Chuuya’s head early on, though, and had him questioning everything—including whether or not Dazai genuinely loved HIM or if it was all just biological influence from them being mates.

Chuuya looked at Oda and saw what most people would consider the “better option” for a mate. Stable, not feral, not murderous, a family man who happily raised children and who cared deeply for Dazai. Meanwhile, in that timeframe Chuuya saw himself and Dazai as actively making each other worse.

So it was a complicated relationship all around, and I think Chuuya’s jealousy and envy was in some ways as much of Oda as it was of Dazai’s relationship with him. He never reacted that way about Akutagawa who’s fairly obsessed with his mate, or anyone else Dazai got close to.

Dazai and Oda’s relationship, while platonic, was uncomplicated and healthier, and relationships have been built on far less—especially in an A/B/O world.

I hope that all made sense! I’m glad you enjoyed the story, and Chuuya’s inner conflicts!

Honestly, not sure yet on Hellfire and Brimstone, and I know myself well enough that if I say "probably five chapters" I am just going to embarrass myself by either wrapping in four or writing it for six years. There's certainly enough lore in both worlds for me to mash together.

I'm still surprised how many people remember my story, or me, but I've been so glad to make friends in the BSD fandom. I know there are some trolls to look out for, and some drama, but overall I've met some lovely people on here.

I'm certainly not overworked! I just was thrown for a loop by some things, and I should get BACK to work now. I'll get to work hashing out the next Hellfire and Brimstone! This next chapter will be a bit of a gut-punch so it might need a little time.
