I’m not saying I don’t like the same stuff as you but I feel like anyone who says that catering to dudebro misogynists and objectifying women isn’t a problem in anime/manga culture (not that it’s nearly absent in other media or subcultures) has to be kidding themselves, right?
Like I get that it’s easy to feel defensive of what you like but there’s only so many spirited defenses of loli hentai you can write before you think maybe people are upset by it for at least understandable reasons, and that its target audience probably isn’t actually mostly queer women or whatever.
im more awake so im reanswering
my take was more so about yuri and ecchi and how often times its treated as though its something that can exclusively be enjoyed by men if theres any ounce of sexualness. i made my tweet after seeing discourse about a yuri picture of two girls kissing sloppy, with everyone talking about how it was ‘clearly male gaze’ despite the fact i, a girl enjoyed it. then i started thinking about how many yuri fans refer to anything with sexuality as gooner slop and ‘for men’
misogyny can be a problem but i honestly see it more in normal animes than ecchi and stuff personally made by artists. lust isnt an inherently misogynistic thing. it is when you use it to hurt and objectify actual women.
my thoughts on actual porn vs hentai and ecchi differ wildly
