being someone in the fandom that video you reposted is kind of odd . to say that “popular people” are like infiltrating the anime twt is crazy . that seems to me just like stooping to theyre level and saying that people who are different then you shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy the same stuff you do , or even saying theyre not allowed to join the discourse because everyone “unanimously agreed” to get over a certain topic ? like no . people are allowed to form theyre own opinions about any sort of fandom subject they want .
personally i don't think the video was saying people who aren't part of that group "can't join" or "are not allowed", i think the video was trying to make more of a point that people before were bullied and made fun of for enjoying anime, but since it's considered "cool" now, those people find it "acceptable" to bully or be mean - because they weren't occupying the space before. The person mentioned something about fandom etiquette, which i agree with to some extent : you wouldn't join a soccer club without first understanding the etiquette of how others should be treated or the rules of the game (and this is a completely basic example, any club or interest can be described this way) idk to me it would be like someone who bullied me in high school for "liking something" only to turn around and like it back or think it's cool, and not get bullied the way i did for it because it's all of the sudden trendy (if that makes sense).
