kay, you wonderful human, you. you're an incredibly gifted writer, and it's evident you put a lot of care into every single word you use in your works. if i could ask: WHEN do you stop torturing yourself with rewrites? 😭 i keep trying to let them go, to think they're good enough, but one wrong word and next thing i know, im rewriting an enter paragraph! when do you stop and assure yourself that what you've written is good enough? - asking for a writer friend whos been stuck on the same pages for too long and just can't seem to trust themselves or the quality of their work at all

oh lovely, i'm sorry to say that i actually... don't rewrite (or, at least, very rarely) !! i take a lot (too much...) of time to build the sentences on the very first try (even though i do try to spend less time on some parts, especially lately since i'm writing 4 fics at the same time... going crazy) so I usually just spend my time "rewriting" the current sentence/paragraph in my head before i actually write it. it's not the best method because i take way too much time to write 1k but at the same time it's the only one that works for me, because if i were to rewrite it, i'd scratch absolutely everything (oop). When im not sure about a sentence/paragraph, though, i usually highlight it and come back later !

so i'd say maybe just highlight the parts you think need tweaking and if there's too many, i'd say it's also your brain playing tricks on you!!! we're our very worst critics as creators, and sometimes we have those periods when absolutely nothing we write sounds good to our own ears.

also, maybe, read your part out loud? sometimes i do it before i write because i kind of like to play with the sentence's lengths (so it doesnt sound too monotonous). sometimes just adding very short or 1-word sentence to paragraphs changes a lot!

good luck, you got this!!!!!!!!!!!! and thank you so much for your lovely words, i appreciate you so much <3
