How do you feel about that coloring technique where you paint in gray scale first and then use gradient maps for the colors?

i rarely use it myself because it's a little bit troublesome for me but oh it's so powerful if you know how to use it properly
well i almost never do smth rendered so it's a little bit useless for me xd
