Hello! I'm new to the whole zoo thing and I'm really confused atm. How do I know if I'm actually a zoophile? And if I am is it wrong to be a zoo?
Hey! So, to answer your first question, if you experience romantic or sexual attraction toward any non-human animals, congratulations! You're a zoo, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Attractions in and of themselves cannot be wrong, it's the actions one takes that have the potential to be harmful and therefore wrong. It's a common misconception in our woefully anthropocentric world that animals lack the ability to consent because they allegedly cannot communicate with us, but in reality they're fully capable of communicating their desires and do so all the time.
Take a dog for example. Just as they let us know when they do or don't want petting and other affection, when they want to go for a walk, etc., they are fully capable of expressing sexual interest in humans and do so regularly.
My advice as to how to determine if something is "wrong" or otherwise reprehensible is this: objectively consider the harm potential. If it's not hurting anyone, there is nothing wrong with it!
So, embrace your zooey-ness if you find you have those attractions to non-humans, and rest easy knowing that there is nothing wrong with you for it. Also know that you're not alone, and there are lots of us out there who will support you. If you have any more questions, feel free to drop them here or reach out to me privately, and I would be happy to help however I could.
