I've never bought a couch. Our house currently doesn't have a couch. We had one that was I think a couple thousand dollars, but it got ruined and now we have a daybed there.

To be honest, buying a couch for thousands of dollars seems really weird to me. That much money, for a place to sit? It seems like a strange cultural thing to me. I'd just buy plastic lawn chairs or bean bags or something. =P
