May I ask for more clarification on writer sample/portfolios? Would fashion articles we've written be okay? What about interviews (if part of it is written by the interviewee - would that be allowed or not since part of it is not our work?) And I know the wc for samples may be anywhere between 1k-2.5k -- can it be lower or must it be at least 1k? And how old can our writing samples be? I have some from around 2016/2017 haha! Thank you for answering all my questions!
Hi there! Yes, any stylized pieces such as fashion articles or interviews are encouraged, although not required. Pieces that are less than 1k words or not as recent are also fine, as long as they reflect your current ability. Writing samples from the past two years are preferred, but we will still evaluate older samples fairly!

Are you guys looking for a more painterly or 2D style? You have some Leyendecker paintings on your moodboard, but mostly 2D style stuff with gradients and textures.
We are open to either/all styles. The mood board is there for inspiration and what we are looking for as a general aesthetic of the zine ( for example, the colours, poses, and graphic layout). Your style does not need to match the mood board pieces exactly in any way!

if a contributor wants to be paid but uses a friend's paypal acc with verified consent, would that work? and does it need to be thru a personal paypal acc or business acc?
Hello! Either personal or a business account is fine! With verified consent, we can distribute payment to a friend's PayPal account. However, we will not bear any responsibility for where the payment goes after it has been sent to the specified PayPal account.

Hello, I'm concerned that your shipping mod has no shipping experience. None of the projects for which they are listed as shipping mod have entered the shipping stage. How will you ensure the packages for this zine are shipped well?
Hi there! We will be keeping track of the shipping and production status through frequent updates and check ins with our shipping mod to stay on track with our project. Our Shipping Mod has already been hard at work researching vendors and materials for shipping. Furthermore, our Finance Mod has been and will be working closely with the Shipping Mod to provide support. Our Finance Mod is a small business owner themself and have extensive experience with packaging and fulfilling orders.

So to be clear... Someone who's written any underage content isn't welcome to be part of the zine?
We will not be accepting anyone who creates explicit content of children. We are not trying to discriminate against NSFW content creators; our main goal is simply for the whole team (mods and contributors) to feel safe and comfortable. Please dm us on one of our social media accounts or email us ([email protected]) for any further inquiries so that we can provide a specific response to whether we would disqualify an applicant based on their previous works or not.

hi, is anyone alright to apply? There was a recent issue with a zine where a contributor was accepted then retired from a project due to unrelated content to the zine app. SxF is a very friendly content anime but I was wondering if unrelated works (even if not linked to the portfolio, samples or not even SxF at all) were gonna be a problem? Just so that issues can be avoided for both parts 😅

We encourage anyone who loves SxF to apply, but as a mod team we reserve the right to remove applicants/contributors if we find out that they have made inappropriate content/remarks (ie. mature content involving minors, discriminatory or hateful views, making other contributors uncomfortable, etc). Hi with the recent zine scams going on, I checked out your shipping and finance mod. The shipping mod only have 1 completed zine and the finance mod previous projects arent linked to check. I love the idea of this zine so I would love if the mod team could consider or do some efforts into vouching and assuring the reliability of the mods.

Hi! We totally understand the potential concerns caused by the recent events in the zine community (we have a Mod integrity statement addressing what measures we are taking to ensure accountability: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12ZL_iwMGcefpyjciZMZXe9z2AMdqJlIKgKdy7sc0kDQ/edit). Both our Finance and Shipping Mods have signed a contract regarding management of funds and merchandise to be safe. Furthermore, we can vouch for the skills and reliability of both, as they each were part of a project that has finished and are involved in many successful ongoing zines that are nearing completion. Although they have only been part of our team for a few weeks, they have already made significant contributions to our planning process and have been doing great work in their respective roles!
