I used to generate my website's pages until recently, but now I use it just to write my stuff. It's like "Markdown on steroids" as I call it.

I don't have a favorite package in particular, but my favorite feature on Emacs is Org Mode.

I actually use both, for various reasons. I use Emacs more like an IDE, and Vim to quickly edit configuration files when needed. I also use Nano to edit my gopherhole. Yes... I use a bunch of editors for different tasks.
