I understand that Wooseok didn't select a script from the tons he received and chose calmly, because it's a delicate thing to choose and there are many things to be analyzed as a character, if it's a good story and if the audience will like it, it's more difficult for him coming from such a huge success... but I saw tweets from several people saying that Wooseok receives tons of proposals for him to be a model for brands and he only chooses the ones that fit his criteria, but in my opinion I wish he would accept all the brands if they are good products and really good brands, why not accept all the proposals? Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring and next year there will be tons of new dramas premiered with actors already loved by the audience and with an old fan base who will be much more prominent than him without drama, so I think it was good to secure the contract.
I think he has very few brands and has the capacity to have many more, maybe almost 30.
:( hmm yeah, but you do realise that accepting 'all' the proposals will mean that he's working back to back without rest right? i trust that he's capable of choosing the best for himself. i mean you have to admit that the trends in kdrama / k-ent world come and go, and for any actor not jsut wooseok, popularity will wax and wane. so i agree that we dont know what tomorrow brings, but it's also impt for him to pick proposals/jobs that align with his values and that he's comfortable with!
I found it very inconsiderate that he didn't send a message on Weverse/Instagram thanking him for all the effort and money that fans spent on his birthday projects all over the world, not even a thank you and all the actors make a post of thanks even if it's just for the congratulations. But I bet that on the day of his show on YouTube he'll show up to ask people to watch and want engagement
I thought your profile was exclusive to wooseok
Hi Em. Saw you took a break. Hope everything is okay. I may not know and understang exactly how you feel and what you've been through but you're not alone,we are here for you as well. I'm one of your followers who wish for your happiness. :). I wish I could give back the same amount of comfort you've given me last month. Fighting Em! Aja!
It bothers me that everyone wants to know about BWS's new project. Am I the only one who doesn't want him to choose anything this year? I would like him to be an ambassador for more brands (18 in total) and to do magazine shoots, go to events, and be a model. He has to choose very calmly, and in the meantime, he can be a model.
hdahddahhadha well i want him to have casting news though :( cos i feel thats one of the few ways international fans can all enjoy his projects wholeheartedly haha. but yes i mean all engagements and projects are def welcome!! yes i hope his next project will be something up my alley too hehe
I would like your opinion, what do you think about this situation? In your opinion, was I stupid or did he act wrongly?
It's just a matter of conscience. You can rest assured that what you said won't lead to any fights. You can be very honest, please.
Can you give me your personal opinion? You can be very honest
As soon as the incident with Wooseok broke out, I felt really bad and worried and scared for him, because he is a wonderful and kind person and he didn't deserve what was happening. I sent a message to a friend who I used to tell my things, what was happening in my life and problems in general. So I told him about how sad and worried I was about what happened, I told him what had happened and so on... I told him that I cared because it happened to someone I admire and like... I wanted to vent, you know?
In short, he said that it was silly of me to care about celebrities, he sent me a gif of some random actor drying his tears with money, he said that my life must be wonderful for caring about that, that if I wanted to have empathy for someone, I should have empathy for people who suffer tragedies of losing their homes.
I thought he invalidated my pain, right? Because Wooseok is important in my life and what happened was a significant milestone. Did you think his behavior and what he said were wrong? Shouldn't he have belittled my feelings or was I really overreacting by being worried, scared for a celebrity and was I silly like he said?
hello anon, sorry for the late reply!! hope this isnt too late and that the situation between you and your friend is kinda settled. anyway, here's my two cents for what it's worth- haha i do think about things like that sometimes too. whether fan culture is drawing me in too much that i lose myself in the real world. i think you gotta ask yourself honestly whether youre in too deep into this fandom thing, and whether this is compromising your relationships with your loved ones, taking time away from things that really matter, and affecting your own mental health. you friend may not have used the best way to bring his/her point across but intentions may not be bad. i can only speak for myself though, from what i learnt about myself through these few years of being a fan of various people and kdramas, i think its safe to say that its easy to lose myself in this. it can really feel like a different world altogether, right? we're happy, we have that post-drama / celeb high, and we feel like we are so close to the celeb. however sad to say that we arent, and ive learnt to reframe my thoughts just as a fan. a faraway friend, perhaps, if you like. ill never personally know my faves and they will never know of my existence. but because i still derive happiness from watching their dramas, from being their fan, i can continue to do so but knowing my place - something along those lines? eg. i buy merch but i dont pour all my savings into spending on their stuff. eg. I scream and scream on twitter and have fun chatting about my faves with my fandom friends because it's so fun and nice when you have friends with similar interests, but i dont spend 24/7 thinking about my faves and worrying about their life. i admire and look up to them / their drama characters cos of their good qualities etc, but i dont (i try not to haha) idolize them to the point where i forget what's important in real life. and also not that im invalidating sadness that we feel when there's negative news about our faves- cos it's normal to be down after hearing negativity, but it really shouldnt eat into our lives so intensely and for such a prolonged period. anw anon this is my response to you,, haha i dont know if i'll offend you or not but you asked for honesty and im kinda good at being honest 😂 so yes. only you can answer this question- cos sometimes for some people, there are much much more real problems in life than panicking about celeb's lives (i gotta remind myself that i am a faraway admirer and they are doing their job as an actor/actress/etc etc and bringing joy to me, thats it)!! sorry this is so long but please let me know your thoughts too... sorry if incoherent 🥲
I think winning votes is important for the name. Some journalists write articles in some votes and this spreads Wooseok's name, and the more his name is in the media (positively), the better.
Do you think these voting apps are capitalist? And they just invent votes to make money off people?
To vote en masse and be competitive, you have to spend money to buy the voting currency that the app uses. And the more passionate fans the artists have, the more they spend. I'm not just talking about WS, I'm talking about everyone. Idols and actors. How much did the app that had the SDA vote make? There were more than 70 million votes. I don't know the exact amount, but there were a lot. Not to mention the other votes, it's around 20 million votes. All of that is money.
That's why different votes appear every week (every week, really).
There are fans who don't participate in all the ones I see. Wooseok's fans want to participate in everything. even though some don't try as hard as others, the vast majority of them come in first or second place.
well, the voting culture is definitely capitalist, its a for profit thing imo. which is why i dont spend money there hahaha. think about how much money goes into this voting thing, how much of your income goes into this voting thing which will just eat up your hard earned money >_< knowing this i myself cannot bring myself to pour so much financially into something like that haha. sorry to be a debbie downer but i honestly dont see much point in voting oops
I'm new to this world of Twitter and fandom. It's not just ws and hy who receive hateful and malicious comments, do other celebrities also receive bad comments every day? Is this common?
I've heard that in Kpop there are a lot of them.
its commonplace - id say that most kcelebs do receive some form of negative comments now and then. somehow im kinda numb to it already 🥲 in kpop theres more i think cos the fandoms are generally much much bigger and with a bigger sample size youre bound to get more haters and illogical folks :P
Thank you for answering and for the advice about actively searching for hater profiles. I should have asked before I literally wasted my time that last time, hahaha, but at least we learn from our mistakes.
In my mind, I didn't want anyone to talk badly about bws on the Internet, which is why I thought of actively searching to try to stop it and "put an end to it."
But what you said makes sense: they just want attention, and starting a fight is the attention they want. But that's really hard because it goes against that desire to "protect" bws from all the evil and bad people. Do you understand?
hi!! haha hmm yes and no - i get that intention of 'protecting' bws like you mentioned, but i dont think that this method is the best way to go about it. sometimes, it doesnt mean that refraining from engaging (with the haters) is the same as doing nothing. in fact, it may be the opposite - shows that youre much more level headed than those haters cos you know theres no point talking to empty vessels.. and this in turn may protect the peace in the community which is important. so on the contrary, i dont think it goes against that notion of 'protecting' bws
Do you think that if ws chooses a character/plot that the public doesn't like, he will lose his fans and the popularity/success he achieved as sunjae?
nope not really - i mean i still feel that his fans will watch the drama cos of him haha (at least thats what ill do) and then ill judge the plot/character for myself 🤪 i personally think that as fans we should be able to appreciate different facets of his acting skills and that includes various types of characters and genres of dramas
continuation of my previous question.
Today I answered a hater and it really took up my time and energy. I thought it would make her delete her posts or stop making bad comments but it didn't happen. I think I was confident because in the 3 times I faced haters, those 3 times the person deleted the posts.
But now it just wasted my time and energy and it didn't do anything.
haters are haters for a reason - they rarely know that they are wrong / rude / hurtful. they wont stop until the other party feels like dirt. so dont let these terrible souls get to you ok!! you can fight one, and many others will pop up. perhaps they are all the same person with many accounts - you never know. but your own health and wellness should never be compromised for these people - trust me!!
Can you give me some advice? Since these fights between hy fans and ws fans don't appear on my tl, is it best to just let it go and ignore it for the sake of my mental health? I'm just afraid they'll come up with some big slander.
Can you give me your personal opinion? My TL doesn't show any hate messages from WS. However, if I do a quick search I know who the profiles are that are making nasty comments about him. Only I can find them by going after them. Is it worth confronting these people? Offending them personally to see if they stop, trying to embarrass them? Because as you said, blocking is just a band-aid, it will still exist.
I've gotten into fights, but it's very tiring and seems to drain time and energy. But I didn't want people to keep talking bad about it for other people to believe.
anon!! haha don't go searching actively for those comments and accounts!! it's so bad for mental health :(( i dont think its worth confronting those accounts cuz (1) they are illogical (2) they usually are kinda attention seeking so confronting them will only give them what they want. i know that youre trying to defend ws from malicious comments but honestly this is futile esp on twitter, cos there are tons of types of ppl/accounts out there and fighting one will mean that a thousand others pop out the next day, unfortunately. i try to reason with myself when i see negative comments about my faves - if its illogical, then i really dont heed it. doesnt make sense, so honestly op isnt worth your time and effort!!
I saw in one of your questions someone saying they liked 20th Century Girl, I thought this movie was really, really bad hahaha not because of the actors and acting but because of the story, WS's character doesn't smile he's very serious, I thought the story was short, there was no development of the couple and until now it hasn't been explained why he died? Why he died? I wanted to see the two as a couple and it wasn't.
I'm absolutely sure that Sunjae is his best character so far and I understand now why people like happy endings and romantic couples like Sol and Sunjae. A sad ending is really bad.
I finished the movie and I have the feeling that there was no ending and everything was unexplained.
That's why I don't trust BWS's taste in scripts, I'm really afraid of what he'll choose from now on.
hmmm i dont wanna comment on 20th century girl cos those are your opinions and everybody differs in preferences hahahaha but i think yep he def rose to popularity cuz of sunjae, i agree. and i do think that roles play a huge part, if it's a relatable, lovable role, people are more likely to get on board with it. sad endings can be painfully good though, i have to beg to differ (eg. 2521). so sad endings are not necessarily bad!! hahaha to say that you dont trust bws's taste in scripts :( hmm i dont agree haha i trust that he did make the best decision for himself at that point in time - perhaps that role / storyline was something he wanted to experiment with. sunjae was picked by him also because its a character he wanted to try portraying (someone who loves deeply and prioritises relationships). so i still trust that he will choose something for his own needs and development as an actor
