I love the first game in spite of never playing or watching a full playthrough of it (and the remake has fed me so well) and I've wanted to draw them in the past but just never got around to it. Regardless, I'm still quite familiar with the general gist as I've watched several cutscenes and seen some screenshots where The Vibe cannot be denied. she fucks that old man.

Jokes aside, I am insanely endeared by their dynamic. Her energy and snark and humor compared to his dulled, quieter, more jaded demeanor... the substance that both their characters have... how he slowly grows fond of her..... like HOWWW can you not enjoy that, it's a classic. I swirl it around in my mind like a fine wine.

I love the other moments between them from major story beats like when Ellie sticks by Joel while he's ill or their moments at the museum.
Even smaller things like the dialogue where she learns how to whistle, or when you're given the option to give her a high five and hear her go "Yeahhh >:)", or when Joel (god, it Gets me just thinking about it) tells her not to laugh then plays the guitar and sings for her, or even when Joel starts calling her baby girl later on..... ough augh my delicate wee little heart bursts into confetti......

Also the way. THE WAY Joel damns the entire earth just to save this one girl, the center of his universe, is so. (clutches heart, shakes fist at the sky).

The show I haven't watched yet and I probably won't for a while but I really like what I've seen so far. Maybe someday I'll watch it/finish the game and you'll see me publicly blubbering over them! I do fancy myself a little traumatized, post-apocalyptic, vaguely incestuous duo.
