everyone loves mpreg, but how about some MISCARRIAGE. mpreg and angst >:3
Idia accidentally gets Azul pregnant. At first, it's all the cute stuff, Idia pampering him, Azul letting himself eat more and gaining weight because he's carrying a clutch! But his body rejects the eggs because their species aren't compatible. It's painful for him, and emotional for both of them, because it reminds Idia of his brother dying.
And in the aftermath, Azul gains even more weight because he's stress eating and eating to fill the void of the babies he lost 🥲 (this is aretia btw!)
IdiAzu miscarriage, postpartum, depression, WG//
Ohhhhh Aretia your brain!!!! I always love miscarriage or fertility complications because pain is fun and sexy hehehehe,
It would only be until the second year they’re out of the school that Azul would get back a positive test. They have been trying for two years now, starting before, and continuing after they graduated at NRC.
It’s not even like they originally wanted a baby, they were just being wild and stupid, having unprotected sex like their lifes depended on it and fucked like rabbits. A few months of that though, left Azul questioning things.
Why wasn’t he getting pregnant? And why did he care so much?
Getting pregnant would be bad, he would struggle to upkeep his business and school life. Azul shouldn’t be upset! …but he is. His body has always been out to get him - putting on extra weight like it wasn’t a problem, giving him poor eyesight, and now, he’s not even sure he can get pregnant.
Mer of his species struggle with fertility. Cephalopods are a rare find, not to mention they get hunted for sport and food constantly, so being unable to have a child hurts Azul deeply. A long deep gash cuts into him for years until he’s finally able to get a positive test.
He’s done everything from putting on a reasonable amount of weight to safely carry, and holistic remedies to try and encourage ovulation. Sevens, he even took Idia under water after brumation to see if he could encourage his biology to mate successfully. Finally, he’s done it!
It’s wonderful to be spoiled by Idia too. He’s been watching Azul struggle with his emotions, eating habits, and strife. He was ecstatic the moment Azul showed him the two lines, holding him tightly and crying rivers with Azul. It was wonderful.
Beautiful, wonderful, and peaceful. Azul should have known better than to expect the world to be nice to him for long.
Their first few appointments with the OBGYN’s stated a known fact each time they checked in.
Mortality rates in mer-human pairings were high, but not impossible. If they wanted to abort - they always brought up abortion - they could without fee.
Azul hated when they brought it up. He’s a logistics man, and doesn’t like when the odds are against his favor. He dismissed the doctors. He wanted to carry this clutch full term.
If the sea princess could have even just one child survive with the prince, then Azul could have the same.
It was delusional. The thought process.
Azul never carried to full term.
After month five, he lost the entire clutch. Something about the transformation potion poisoning his body - Idia being human - his body being a failure at life.
Azul lost them all.
He lost everything they’ve been striving for this past two and a half years… It was just never meant to be. He was never meant to be happy with a family, and he’s failed at providing Idia with even one viable heir.
Oh Idia, poor, poor, Idia. He wanted them just as badly too, but when Everything happened, he shut down the same way he usually does. Hole-ing himself up and sleeping on most of it.
Couples usually keep trying, but Azul can’t even muster the thought.
