I like them on equal footing, both expressing their feminity in slightly different ways — fem Dazai is still a trashcan on fire, doesn’t cook or clean, eats whatever and annoys the hell out of Chuuya.

Ah, and fem Chuuya… fem fatale, heels and red lipstick, knives and martial arts. She is vicious, angry and so gorgeous, Dazai is obsessed with her. Chuuya loves Dazai but is annoyed with how much attention her bandaged brat requires: but she doesn’t mind, not really — it’s all pretend for them, another one of their games.

It’s hard for me to just make them women and keep the canon characterization entirely because I think that female experience would by definition make them slightly different. Chuuya is still kind and caring, spends a tonn of cash on Dazai, who buys dozens of sex toys to embarrass Chuuya.

But Chuuya doesn’t get embarrassed. She just smirks and presses her tall woman against the walls, cuts the offensive underwear with her knife and finger fucks Osamu until she cries right there, wherever they are.

Dazai loves when Chuuya is possessive and mean to her, makes fun of her in public, but if anybody ever says something about her Nakahara, or even looks at her the wrong way — that’s a dead man walking right there.

They go on missions together, kill and then fuck, with Dazai pulling Chuuya into a kiss even on the back seat of mafia car. They feel invisible together, drinking in each other’s poison — but they wouldn’t have it any other way.
