Hey! I know it was a hard decision to change the number of contributors, and I really appreciate the transparency. I guess I'm just a little concerned about there being less content. I'm also concerned about how low the number of chefs is with this being a cookbook zine. I think it's great to have a similar number of writers and artists, but I'm worried that the food aspect will be lacking.
Hi there, thank you for your message and we totally understand your concern. We definitely plan to ensure that the zine will still have a large amount of content, primarily of course, on the food aspect with this being a cookbook.
Our very own Chef Mod is going to be contributing recipes as well. and I myself (Social/Writing Mod) may as well. My italian grandmother would probably beam to know it. We've discussed the potential of asking for more recipes from our contributors - however, we're already asking for 3 from each. With our current numbers, that would put us at about (with guest chef included) 27 recipes total from contributors. With potential 3 from two mods, for a total of 6, which would result in our original plan of around 33-36 recipes.
We definitely want this product to be filled to the brim with recipes, so we promise we're taking this very seriously in giving you all a cookbook you're happy to have in your hands!

What is the difference between submitting a piece as Sample 3 vs putting it in your portfolio?
Hi there! The samples you submit should be what you feel are the best representation of your work - for the specific guidelines we ask for in our app/carrd. By giving us your portfolio as well, we're able to see the whole breadth of your style/work - not just limited to what you've chosen!

If selected as a chef, would we be able to submit final recipes that were included in our application? Some of the recipes I want to submit are very personal to me and I feel like they fit the theme very well, but I also feel like they showcase my ability the best and I would feel bad about using them for one and not the other. Thanks!
Hi there! Thank you for the question. Yes, chefs can use a recipe in the application and then propose it again in their zine pitches, as long as it's an original.
Additionally, please keep in mind that we're going to try to give everyone their favorite categories (i.e. breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc), but we can't guarantee it! Thank you!

When submitting samples for the writer's section, is it okay to have two BKDK pieces and the optional piece is a different ship with side platonic BKDK?

How many recipes will chefs be expected to create for the zine? Is there a theme for the food being created?
Hi there! Sorry for the late reply - each chef will create three recipes accompanied by a picture of the results.
The zine will feature recipes divided into six sections: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Desserts, Snacks and Drinks as for theme - there's no specific theme, you can even feel free to integrate aus in such as: Kacchan's Spicy Winter Soup. (not limited to aus btw, you're more than welcome to do general recipes such as Oven Baked Mac n Cheese etc, or Wine Braised Short Ribs with Garlic Mashed Potatoes.) ((can you tell I'm hungry))

what are the specs for the zine? (word count for the writers?)
The full specs doc is currently being worked on as we finalize some manus for merch - however, for writers the word count is as follows: min of 2k, and a max of 2.5k for the piece, with some wiggle room of 100 words, if needed.

Hello. If applying as a writer, should both samples involve cooking or baking or can one piece have cooking and/or baking while the other piece is fluffy and romantic, showcasing BakuDeku's relationship?
