I reread chapter 10 and Fyodor is such a broken, sad, self loathing person. From the context we get it really does seem like Fyodor's mother loved him. I love how you wrote Fyodor's resentment towards his mother for giving birth to him, and towards himself for killing him. I would love to see some kind of growth in his character! He may be too far gone for a redemption but hopefully he can heal a little
Fyodor is broken, you're right. He's just angry, and fueled by spite. He's going to grow somehow, because the reality around him will change in a way he never witnessed before. It's going to play with his head and open a crack in his petrified heart.
I mean, I could make a tiny, tiny spoiler that will make no sense: "First kicks."
