Cinnamon: The Balancing of the Scales is an ancient ritual, created so that mortals could choose their own destinies when they believe their gods have failed them. Usually, demons are summoned as arbiters, and the world’s mortals are tested. If their faith in their gods holds true, the gods are permitted to return. If not? The demons have free rein to take that world for their own. Overland was subjected to this, and while the Plenty had once been a secret to its populace, they were unveiled by Arcvolt. The Plenty were temporarily banished, and a fighting tournament began between the demons and the mortal and semi-divine champions that remained. In the end, Overland chose the Plenty, realizing that while their secret natures had been a betrayal, they had always been fair, just, and kind. The faith of the people gave the Plenty’s champions an edge, and they pushed Arcvolt and her faction out. And now? Everyone knows the Plenty are gods, but everyone just goes about their day as normal anyway. After all, the Plenty are still people first, gods second.
