I answered this a year or two ago but it’s buried pretty far so I’ll answer again!

Angel wings are their own energy manifested and aren’t physical matter like we understand it! They can seem physical, as in you can touch them, the angel can touch them, and the wings can interact with their environment but that’s actually reality warping to a minor degree around the angel to accommodate their wings. That said, angel wings will phase through the angel’s clothing automatically as it’s like an ingrained/automatic response, so their clothes never need to be specially tailored to accommodate wings. An angel can also pull their wings into reality just enough for them to be visible but not touchable, and lower realm matter will phase through them. Higher realm matter may be capable of interacting with them, it really depends on what it is.

As for the appearance of an angels wings, they can:
1. Be feathered and mimic the shapes of real bird wings or be entirely anatomically incorrect, and it can shift back and forth since angel wings are the angel’s energy manifested. Angels can’t choose the appearance of how their wings manifest when feathered.
2. Be pure energy which often looks like bright light, sometimes lightly coloured light. The shapes will typically still resemble a standard wing shape but it can get funky and deviate, and is also very malleable/able to change shape.
3. Be a shadow cast behind them, which will typically resemble their mimicry wing shape when feathered.
4. Be a vague outline/trick of the light.

Angels often use their wings offensively and defensively too and they can literally cut through things or use them as shields, etc etc.
