My own anger is something that scares me and I try to rationalize away or talk myself down from. When was the last time you felt true anger/contempt?

A few days ago. I feel angry a lot because I have a brain injury, so I can understand that; talking yourself down can help very much! My therapist taught me a technique wherein you analyze the steps to get to your anger. For instance, it might start with mild irritation: "This person is bothering me." For each step you do something to counteract it, like "This person may be bothering me, but it's really their problem and I don't need to react to it." Or you can tell yourself something funny to take yourself away from the moment. I've found it really helps!
