Glad you enjoy reading my long messages ;-;
Victor has an inner kindness, which he shows only to animals and plants, but that side is repressed. It’s why when Annie expressed discomfort he didn’t show any particular care. A Victor from a long time ago would have, but 23 year old Victor prefers to stay in his own comfort zone. While he wasn’t a top member of the mafia, he was proud of his role as their messenger because it meant he was trusted, ignoring the fact that his work harmed others. He just delivered the mafia’s packages, uncaring about what happens to the mafia’s victims until he was impacted (policeman and Wick). There was a kind hearted Victor who wants to be the true Victor. Or maybe that’s the postman speaking? He can’t break himself from the mask of the reliable but unassuming postman, leaving his emotions disturbed. I wish more people talked about the elements of envy and resentment in his character. He peeks into letters because nobody sends any to him, he wants to at least simulate a relationship. He finds reasons not to interact with others despite internally wanting so desperately to connect. He’s a messed up guy but since he doesn’t resort to violence about it, he has the image as just a good and upstanding guy.
Andrew is interesting because he does horrible things while having a good heart. For the sake of Heaven, he’s told himself that these crimes will be washed away when he finally reaches his goal. Just one more day, month, or year of this dirty criminal life. He sacrificed his dignity and closed off his heart so he can keep his head down and work up the funds for a Holy burial. But he couldn’t close himself off completely, his heart still bleeds for affection. When someone supports/validates him he decides to follow them. Whether it’s through funds for Latz (Percy) or the compliments he craves (3-1-5). Yet in the end, the tragedy is that he dirtied his hands for nothing. All that sin just to end up dead in the manor, far away from his mother.
Victor and Andrew both struggling with who they really are, giving up parts of themselves for their own comfort. They’re both somewhere in that gray area. I am sad that Andrew seems to get the most “BUT HE KILLED SO HE MUST BE SADISTIC AND EVIL” treatment when other murderous characters don’t. Meanwhile Victor, while he hasn’t killed, is no angel, gets treated as a sweet baby boy who won’t even smoke because he’s that pure. Victor is just too cowardly to kill, just wait until he decides to finally snap (/j).
Overall it’s that Andrew is someone with a good heart who still does bad things for his own self interest (Heaven) while Victor allows horrible things to happen around him for his own emotional comfort (the ultimate bystander syndrome /j)
I kinda rambled again but like, I just like their layers. They both have elements of good people, but Andrew’s actions and Victor’s repressed resentment for others indicate otherwise.
Sorry for the week late answer, at first I thought I had answered this one too but no, I wanted to give it a couple of days to give a nice answer but classes started and then I forgor...
Opposite sun moon is my cup of tea, ofc I get you, I kinda breath that stuff...
Oh dear I find it so funny like Victor really was like "what's wrong with her"
I don't think Victor wants to put it in words directly how much he wants to be trusted, and not only as an activity related to his hyper fixation. To him, it's the only true way to form a bond with others...
If the postman mask took over....where did the autumn went...did it leave or is he buried....
Him peeking into letters it's kind of funny because it indeed is because knowing secrets he feels closer to these people but that also means he's a nosy old hag jdhdjdh
Sadly, Victor has this image in the fandom of someone pure and unproblematic, and nobody seems to want him to be gray or show signs of humanity...
Andrew is more visibly needy in this aspect, but huh (taps the sign) this fandom... But every day I care less and less about how others talk about him, one knows their truth and that's the only important thing...
Give Victor a gun I say, let's see what he does
It's ok, I like finding long
