it was very unnecessary... not being able to handle the violence and loss of war when you see it reflected in a childs eyes was clear and obvious and enough. Adding some kind of lost love to is cheapens it greatly. It's very sad how s2 isn't just bad on its own but makes s1 worse as well, very legend of korra. And yeah, as usual...
