fun fact: if you look at arcane's tv tropes page it have a voice for "incest subtext" where they describe how jinx being possessive of vi and envious of her relationship with cait comes off as romantic. do you think the incest vibes in the show are intentional?
normally i would just ignore a question like this because i dont want to deal with any idiots going HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT MATURE THEMES IN A MATURE SHOW INTENDED FOR ADULTS THERES NO WAY THE WRITERS WOULD EVER INCLUDE SUBTEXT THAT MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE!!! but dying website and a show with a horrible ending that will probably make most people drop it so dying fandom too WHATEVER!!!! Anyway, it is puzzling to me that people don't think there is subtext.... in fact it's barely subtext, really. This is where the whole "homophobia" joke comes from, it's an easy way to awkwardly laugh off Jinx's strange fixation on Vi that has clear sexual undertones - I mean this is just explicit in s2, she just talks about Vi having sex unprompted lol. It's... not at all relevant!! But she's fixated on that part of her association with Cait, whom she snoops on naked which has its own connotations. Jinx can't stand that Vi's connection with Cait is romantic, she tries to self-sooth on the bridge by convincing herself that their hug is platonic. The idea of Vi having replaced her with this enforcer whom she was attracted to literally made Jinx insane, you have to ask why haha. It is plainly canon that Jinx is a siscon... sister complex doesn't always mean "i want to FUCK my sister" it's just a strong attachment and obsession with one's sister and Jinx meets this criteria. Why did they make this part of her character?? Idk I didn't write it, if the fandom was woke enough it would be great if people could actually ask. I think they were inspired by Jaime/Cersei/Brienne when writing Vi/Jinx/Caitlyn and so the undertones are probably partially due to that, they have always mentioned GoT as one of their main inspirations when writing this show. Anyway, it's still present in s2 (with the sex comment), but to me this tone doesn't feel as intense as it was in s1. I'm interested if Jinx's jealousy of Caitlyn has just dropped off... I hope not, would like to see that plot threat more tidily wrapped up.
Also I think Christian said that Caitlyn kisses Vi as a reward for her choosing her over Jinx so lol. It's just explicitly a love triangle, what they have going. But the fandom will never acknowledge it and just make homophobia jokes bc if you read the subtext it means you wanna go hop in bed with your family or something something.
