I remember you calling both Jinx and Caitlyn somewhat narcissistic in response to a Caitjinx ask. Could you please elaborate more on their narcissistic
tendencies ?

Well with Jinx it’s very obvious, I wouldn’t consider her as having NPD exactly but narcissism is just part of her psychological makeup. I think even when she’s being “selfless” it shows I mean Isha turns into a mini version of her haha. Her narcissism mainly comes from being the center of her own world and having little care of not seeing things this way. She is a creature of mostly id, and so the very idea of selflessness and not doing things for her own gain seems silly and pointless to her. Outside of her favored people she does not care about the thoughts and feelings of others, she strikes against Piltover because she personally hates them not for the idea of a greater good. She’s insanely jealous and possessive of the people she loves (Vi, Silco) because she thinks their worlds should center around her and anything short of that is a failure and betrayal that will make her spiral. Though part of this is because this is how she loves too, as someone who usually centers herself the only time she won’t is when she wants love/approval from someone. To her this is a big sacrifice, so to not receive this in return is being ungrateful for her devotion. I could go on about it… it’s not a thing I imagine she is very conscious of. The way she is ND, I feel like it doesnt really let her have a wider scope on things and see outside of herself.

Caitlyn has typical rich person narcissism, she has a huge ego and practically doesn’t consider people different from her human. She admits this in s2, but it was a vibe already present in her character even if Vi temporarily made her start to have more empathy. I see people point to her saying she could protect the guy Jinx shot in s1 as ~proof that she cares~ but she was only saying that as a tactic to get information lol, she didn’t actually care about him. Caitlyn has shown a lot of times that she has low empathy similar to Jinx, unlike Jinx it’s simply filtered through polite society. Caitlyn is motivated by her ego, narcissists believe that they inherently deserve to be respected and thought of as great and it burns them up when they’re not. Caitlyn can’t stand to not be taken seriously as an officer and seeks out this respect relentlessly. She becomes a cop at all likely because the respected authority is alluring. Cait too is possessive with those she loves, demands unfaltering loyalty from Vi, even is weirdly controlling of her making her an enforcer without her permission, gets upset when Vi can’t immediately be this version of her she wanted, completely rejects her and hits her for questioning her and deviating from her ideal at all. And it’s nuts that with all the bad Cait does she doesn’t ever seem to feel really bad for it lol, they make her say “nothing we do can undo our mistakes” blah blah but she never actually seems like she feels bad about anything she did. Like Jinx she’s the center of her own world and her actions are justified to her and that’s all that really matters.
