It's a bit of both. Us hybrids, being half human and half ymdan, are very adept with using something called "ethra". (It's similar to ki from Dragon Ball but also makes up everything in existence.) Ymdans and hybrids have an increased resistance to many elements with electricity being the most adapted-to due to its use in almost everything nowadays. In addition, my military background forces me to work with it and highly-dangerous equipment almost 24/7, making my innate ability to use it even more potent. (This is a very brief and oversimplified description, sorry.)
