The same as on 'alternative facts'. When you find methods of doing good that are not part of the bulk of medicine yet it still is medicine since it does something. Even placebo effects are used by today's medicine. But when you require ghosts and much money and rare ingredients like e.g. earth rays from Siberia then this is neither 'alternative' nor medicine, it's a scam.
