family vacations .... nobody enjoys it. Anger, stress, hatred and even violence is common. The battle usually starts in the open public while driving. And nobody has the same views, wishes and goals. Everybody enjoys different things that are mutually exclusive. So the more powerful or those with the more robust nerves get their will at the expense of the joy of others. That's dynamite on the short term. Not saying there are no families where that works well. But in the great scheme of things family vacation is miserable. Everybody needs time to recover afterwards and that should be a warning sign that things are weird.
