When I have an Italian style pizza it is a pleasure to eat the crust and anybody discarding it is off of my list of people I'd share food with again. However, some sort of "pizza" doesn't deserve the name anyway, the crust being a "cheese" filled pipe of industrial waste, and when you send that to a bin it is not only ok, but wise. You do not want to poison yourself.
