When did Hispanics become "LatinX"?

I don’t know, but it’s been less than a decade. Maybe 6 ish years ago. Because nouns/adjectives are either masculine or feminine then this was the answer to resolve that issue. No a/o at the end— no gender is assigned with the “x”.
