hello, ive recently started reading your bride price fanfic and i love it so much gdhhd the characterization you had on all the phantom thieves was so realistic and refreshing to read ^^
i only have one question: how do you "characterize" your characters / make them feel lively and realistic while still sticking close to canon? (eg: goro still being spiteful and hissy but having a soft spot that doesnt rub off as being moe or try-hard)

When I'm writing AUs, or even post game/future fics, I try to think of what I see as they core parts of the characters, then put that mould of them into a new situation. From there, they then grow into how I see them being in this universe, without them (hopefully) being too detached from canon, but still undeniably different.
It's trial and error in some ways, I often have to change their voices when writing if I think it's gone too far, and check in with friends and betas to make sure it still feels and sounds like them. The characters will always be a bit different in AUs, they don't have the same experiences that formed their canon personalities. But that's what I think is quite fun to explore.
