How do you keep the momentum going? You post about sitting down to write and I just wonder, is it all in one go? Is it chronological? Do you use an outline. If so, what kind? Let me pick your brain.

It totally depends!! I do have some 3-4k oneshots that I've hammered out at a coffee shop. BUT, over the past year my life and how I spend my time has changed. Less time alone, more time caregiving etc. So it feels more likely that anything I eke out is like 500 word chunks at a time.

And like, I wouldn't say I've put out anything resembling long fic in ages. Maybe my gyurick fic that cracked 25k but that's more medium fic. My overall wc has gotten shorter. That's ok though bc for about an 18 month span in 2021-2022 I really didn't write.

Usually I write semi chronologically. But these days it really feels like putting on multiple coats of paint. Like a good base coat hitting the notes and then I'll reread and add more stuff throughout.

And I don't thoroughly outline. Like tonight where I can't really sleep but can't really write either cause it's 2 am, i put down some messy notes app ideas. That's it. We will see if it becomes anything.

And thanks for the ask about process it is kinda cool to talk abt
