I really love the idea of Zhongli and Childe talking things through after the Liyue arc while Childe's still there (after some moping around, of course) - and they are so completely smitten with each other. And basically going on dates and being lovey-dovey all the time. But they are both like: "nah, he sees me as a friend. I'm lucky we have this friendship again, I shouldn't push it. This is totally platonic" Two guys who are very smart on their own but incredibly dense about this :3
Childe fell first. Zhongli says something complimentary towards him and he flushes like a jueyun chili and zhongli asks him what is wrong. Childe says nothing, he’s hot. And zhongli leans in and puts his hand on Childe’s forehead.
He’s so close to him that he can feel Zhongli’s breath on his skin, can see the flecks of gold in his eyes.
Childe backs up three feet in his chair and nearly bolts. He avoids Zhongli for three miserable days but Zhongli can’t stand to be apart any longer and waits for him every day until he gets the opportunity to speak to him.
Childe doesn’t want to talk.
Childe fell first but Zhongli fell harder.
He can’t believe his eyes as tears fall from the eyes of an archon, a god, all because of him.
“Ajax, I beg of you, what have i done wrong?”
And zhongli fell hard but childe fell first, so he can’t bear to see him cry.
