Does Khimi not know about his mother being a beastkin? Does it not make him also a beastkin? When he worries about them not gonna be able to share the afterlife, is he just worrying for nothing. I am at the start of book II. If this is a big reveal don't mind please.
Khimi is unaware of his heritage. In his mind, he believes that his mother is a human. He had never seen her once without a silk scarf over her hair, and the few times he did he was much younger.
Aleyna is born of a relation between a human and beastkin, it was a more rare situation, which makes Khimi a fourth beastkin.
Further into the story, there are revelations about what happens to the souls of those who share mixed lineage, but ultimately he should still worry.
