As I understand it, because of what he went through in his childhood Khimi grew distant from his family legacy and left home to face the challenge of life by himself. After some time Rashid found him and brought him back. But why did Khimi accept to return home and to bear the weight once he escaped from then? Did something in his mercenary years change him or is it and effect of something that happens after Rashid brings him back? Probably mentioned but can I ask at what age did he go and for how long?

In my mind, I’ve always imagined that through the years he likely began to feel worn down. Mercenary work is tireless. You’re dealing with people who would likely stab you in the back for a bit of coin. I think in the end, when he finally is confronted by Rashid in Rhaz, he felt like. “It’s time to go home.”

But he never went home and instead he tried to establish himself and fix the estate in Rhaz to make a name for himself.

The timeline is roughly Khimi fled from home at 16-17 and spent nearly a decade as a mercenary. The thing is, Khimi is actually a mother’s boy. He loved Aleyna with all of his heart, but he knows if he sees her that he may become exactly what his mother wanted all along.

At least in Rhaz he feels he has some agency over his own path, career, and destiny.
